Welcome to Higher Ground Farm home of international Grand Prix rider, Judy Garofalo-Torres. Higher Ground Farm is a world-class show jumping farm offering competitive training and top-notch sale horses. Our home is a stunning 250-acre farm in Millbrook, NY, located an hour and a half from New York City.Judy began riding and working with horses at the age of 12, and had many successes as a Junior. She spent many years under the training of two-time Olympic team member and Gold and Silver Medalist Leslie Burr Howard.
Judy competed in her first Grand Prix at the age of 21. With her legendary Grand Prix horse Oliver, Judy qualified for the World Cup Finals in 2004 and represented the United States on the international Samsung Super League Tour. In 2009, with Oliver at the age of 19, the pair placed 2nd in the $250,000 World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic Horse Show.
Taking a year off from the Grand Prix circuit to start a family with husband, Pedro Torres, Judy started back in the Grand Prix ring in 2013 with her mount Quattro Queen. Judy and Queen are moving quickly up the rankings with placings in the money at the 2013 Hampton Classic, the 2013 Gold Cup, and the 2014 Winter Equestrian Festival.
